You can delete your Pow with Friends account and its data yourself, at any time, from inside the app. This page explains how, what deletion removes, what we keep and why, and how to get help if you can’t get into the app.
Delete your account in the app
- Open Pow with Friends and sign in.
- Go to Profile → Settings → Delete Account.
- Tap Delete Account, then confirm.
Your account is deleted right away and you are signed out on that device. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. The same steps work in the web version of the app.
What deletion removes
- Sign-in: your password, all active sessions, and your connected Apple, Google and Facebook sign-ins. We also revoke Sign in with Apple.
- Identity details: your email address is replaced with an anonymous placeholder. Your username, bio, home resort, avatar and profile photos are removed. Your display name becomes “Deleted user.”
- Personal details: your birthday, sex, verified phone number, phone verification records, privacy settings, notification preferences, push tokens and notification history, and referral and sign-up attribution.
- Social: your friends and friend requests, blocks, and reports you filed or that were filed about you.
- Content:
- your RSVPs, invites, comments, reactions and share links;
- groups and trips you own, and your flights and notes in other people’s trips;
- your marketplace listings, listing comments and listing photos;
- photo, video and voice attachments you uploaded to messages.
If you used Facebook
Deleting your account removes the Facebook identifier and email we stored when you signed in with Facebook or connected it. We never store Facebook access tokens or your Facebook friend list, so there is nothing else from Facebook to delete.
You can also remove Pow with Friends from Facebook:
- In Facebook, open Settings & privacy → Settings → Apps and websites.
- Choose Pow with Friends.
- Tap Remove.
This stops Facebook sharing information with Pow with Friends, but it does not delete your Pow with Friends account. To do that, follow the steps above or contact us.
What we keep, and why
- A de-identified account record: an internal ID, account creation and last-active dates, how the account was created, and that it was deleted. This keeps other people’s data consistent and stops the account from being reused.
- Messages you sent: these stay in the conversations of the people you sent them to, shown as from “Deleted user.” Attachments you uploaded are removed.
- Mountain days you created: these are cancelled rather than erased, so people who joined still see what was planned.
- Shared trip expenses: expenses you paid or shared keep an internal reference to your account, so other trip members’ balances stay correct.
- Other people’s content: mentions of you in other people’s comments, your reactions on messages, and internal records of friend suggestions stay tied to the de-identified account.
- Surf with Friends: if you connected Surf with Friends, our shared identity service records that your Pow with Friends account was deleted. Your Surf with Friends account is not deleted. Delete it separately in that app.
- Backups and logs: deleted data can remain in database backups and operational logs for a limited period until they are overwritten.
- Legal obligations: we may keep limited information where the law requires it, or to resolve disputes, prevent abuse or enforce our Terms.
